Band Sponsorship

Since 1963 the tradition of piping in Limerick has been kept alive by the members of Sexton Street CBS Pipe Band.

CBS Pipe Band is a voluntary, not for profit, organisation. It is self-financing and is not incorporated in the school's education budget. Its operational expenses (tutoring, uniform / instrument maintenance and transport) are defrayed through its fees for public performances and its nominal membership fees, supplemented with other varied fundraising events and charitable donations.

Why should I make a donation?

There are a number of reasons why a tax-deductible donation makes sense. Of course, we all want to pay a little less tax, and at the same time, it's great to be able to make a donation to support organisations that do good work. Your donation to the CBS Pipe Band will support the ongoing threefold aims of the band:

  1. 1.    The promotion and encouragement of pipe band music.
    2.    The development of music appreciation and discipline.
    3.    The promotion of a bond of fellowship among members.

In addition to being dedicated to the musical development of youth, the CBS Pipe Band has always emphasized a commitment to community, personal growth and development, and the preservation of traditional culture.  In order to underscore community responsibility, the band performs in numerous local events such as Milford Hospice Annual Harvest Fair, Bawnmore Centre St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the Special Olympics, and local underage sporting tournaments and street leagues.
